I actually bought a Dell. I feel like Glenn now (you know, cuz Glenn loves Dell!)
I got such a good deal that I couldn't pass it up. $707 with my discount, and I had a $100 coupon on top of that. I'll do the algebra for you -- that's $607 for a fairly nice computer. I used the $100 savings to buy a graphics card. it's not the best card, but it's very good. 1gb of video memory on it even :)
It's a Quad Core Q6600 with 6 gigs of memory and a big fat harddrive. AND the best part is I don't have to plug in all my different card readers anymore cuz they're built into the front!
Oh, and it's oh-so quiet too. Not like my old one that doubled as a womb sound emulator.
I left work today at 2:30 and just got home at 8pm. My commute is 9 miles.
Okay, so that includes a couple hours spent at Christa & Luke's house while I was waiting for the traffic to ease up, but that never happened. As I was getting onto the 91 fwy from I-15 I saw the 91 was stopped, but I didn't react fast enough, and I'm just not one of "those guys" who drive over the dirt. I just figured I'd get off at the next exit (McKinley) and drive home on Magnolia. Boy was I mistaken.
I did get off at McKinley, but both Magnolia and Indiana were completely stopped as well. I decided to drive back towards Corona where I could spent a couple hours at Christa & Luke's house. Dinner was great (thanks Christa) and then I decided to try again. I got off at Magnolia only to find the same thing -- stopped traffic. When I turned on the radio I heard it was backed up all the way to Imperial in Anaheim.
Just then I had this great plan! I drove back over the hill to the 15 and went back up to Limonite and over to Van Buren -- it took me 15 minutes to get home. I don't know why that never occurred to me earlier, but it worked great.
There was a Sigalert just before Pierce st. A semi truck rolled over, there was fire and another car involved. That was before 1pm, and it's now past 8pm and the lanes are still closed.
if you watch carefully you'll see him enter the frame, do a bit of the Thriller dance, then walk away.
It's incredible!
